Victim: Phil Robertson and the LGBTQ community find common ground

PhilRobertson

Many members of the LGBTQ community have long considered themselves victims of a society of hate, and with good reason.  There are countless tales of men and women being beaten, spat upon, slandered, and discriminated against in the work force due to their homosexual or transgender lifestyle.  This kind of discrimination is certainly not becoming of a free American society, and it also should not be a characteristic of a Christian man or woman.  That being said, the Bible clearly says in many places that homosexuality is sinful and the church has always held to this belief.  Furthermore, anatomical homosexuality is clearly not God’s design for human sexuality.

Phil Robertson made statements for the January edition of GQ magazine reflecting a biblical position on homosexuality.  His comments may have been a little raw and unpolished but so is his character on the hit A&E series, Duck Dynasty, and nothing Robertson said was unbiblical.  After an impassioned response by many members of the LGBTQ community A&E chose to suspend Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty indefinitely for his comments.  In other words Phil Robertson was hated, slandered, and discriminated against in the workforce for holding to Biblical position on human sexuality.  Phil Robertson has become a victim of societal norms and in this, members of the LGBTQ community have been successful in finding common ground with him.

I’m Jason Dees encouraging you to Think Through It.
