Christianity can be known as a religion of burdensome laws. Many people would say that to be a Christian means to obey the Ten Commandments: don’t steal, don’t kill, don’t lie, and go to church on Sunday. And, if you do all of those things really well, well then God will be pleased with you and you get to go to heaven someday. But that is far from what the Bible has to say about Christianity. Christianity is the promise that people like you and me can actually know God and have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. It tells the story of God sending Jesus to rescue people like you and me from our sin, and to invite us into relationship with God as a child of God through faith. And like any good father, God gives his children laws to keep us safe and to protect our souls. The law then, rather than a burden, is one of God’s greatest gifts.
I’m Jason Dees, encouraging you to think through it.
